The melt-in-your-mouth texture of the IT Isn’t Shammi Kebab, coupled with the crunchy lettuce and onions are a gift wrapped within a pita pocket. 

Although it has many components, the simplicity of this dish makes it a wonderful weekday lunch or dinner, with all the ingredients being readily available through the year, at any supermarket.


Ingredients:

4-5 Pieces

IT isn’t Shammi Kebab

Pita Pocket

5-7 Slices

Onion Roundels

5-7 Pieces

Cherry Tomato Roundels


For the Yoghurt Sauce:

1/2 Cup

Hung Curd or Greek Yoghurt

1/2 Teaspoon

Minced Garlic

1 Tablespoon

Finely Chopped Onion

1 Tablespoon

Parsley Coarsely Chopped

1 Tablespoon

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/2 Tablespoon

Lemon Juice

1/2 Tablespoon

Sumac Powder (optional)

As Required

Ground Pepper


Steps for Yoghurt Sauce:

  • To prepare the Yogurt Sauce, combine the ingredients listed above in a small bowl. Cover and chill until ready to serve.

Steps for Pita Pocket:

  • Cook the Shammi Kebab in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until crispy on both sides.
  • Toast the pita pockets until slightly brown
  • Layer in a few lettuce leaves inside the pita pocket
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of the Yogurt Sauce on the lettuce leaves.
  • Fill each pita half with 2 patties. 
  • Divide tomato and onion evenly among pita halves, and drizzle evenly with 1 tablespoon sauce.
  • Garnish with some more fresh parsley leaves
  • Serve with extra yoghurt sauce and enjoy!
